A film director and cinematographer fascinated with the poetry of everyday life.

Keenan Newman is a queer California-based filmmaker known for his deeply personal and cinematic storytelling. Drawing from a background in poetry and documentary, his work unfolds as a montage of magical realism, exploring people and places with vivid curiosity and unwavering integrity. He has directed global commercial projects for Apple, Levi’s, and Prada, with his Banana Republic campaign winning Best Brand Film at the London Fashion Film Festival. His work as a Director of Photography has premiered at Doc NYC and SBIFF. Recently, Newman worked as cinematographer in support of internationally acclaimed artist Rashaad Newsome and filmmaker Johnny Symons to craft ASSEMBLY - a feature doc that premiered at SXSW 2025.
